Italy

A country in South-Central Europe, Italy is the home to many historically and culturally significant buildings and works of art. It is also known for its cuisine, which created items such as pizza and lasagna, and many of the finest wines. Its capital city, Rome, was once the center of the Roman Empire. Italy is also known for its crime syndicates, specially the Cosa Nostra, which operates in Sicily and also spun off to the United States and to which the word mafia is closely tied.
